Things...they have changed

i found myself having to change the solo life blog.  Two years ago, my best friend and her wife came to live with me in Texas.  A solo life is completely a thing of the past!  Given the lack of pertinence, I have changed this blog into a writing blog.

The idea behind this blog is that people can leve comments that contain feedback on something I have already written here, or they can leave me a prompt that I can turn into a fictional story.

For those that do not know, a prompt is a word or phrase that a writer uses to build a story.  The word or phrase must appear in the story somewhere.  In most cases, the word or phrase becomes the main emphasis of the story, but not always.  I have gotten prompts that I used strictly as a one liner in the story and prompts that quickly became the theme of the story.

I am hoping this will get my creative juices flowing, and maybe even entertain some folks around the world.

So prompt away, people!

Sleeping until you wake up....Yeah Right.

Everyone remember the times when we would sleep until we woke up? Ah, those summer high school days.....Now it is sleep until the cat decides she is hungry so you have slept enough and claws you awake, sleep until the dog has to piddle and sticks his wet nose in your ear, sleep until one of the cats gets territorial over your face/leg/arm/chest and decides the cat lying on the other side (who has been there for just as long based on the body indentions) needs to go and attacks across said body part, sleep until you move your feet under the covers at which point Essa will find attacking said feet is the best dang game in the world, sleep until you get tired of animal antics and get up just so you can get some time away from said animals at the grocery store or wherever they will let you in.......

Early morning insanity---or is that inanity?

OK, so Essa started making noise at 5 a.m.--she tossed the chirpy toy all over the bedroom. I took it away. She found a piece of paper, dragged it into the bedroom and proceeded to shred it---LOUDLY. I took it away. She found a small box (I still do not know WHERE she found it) and proceeded to jump in and out of it, skidding across the bedroom floor, banging into everything that would make noise. I took it away, grabbed her and made her lay down in the bed with me while Buddy just lay on the bed bewildered as to why I was yelling and muttering things at the cat. She wriggled away loudly protesting and running into the living room. Thinking I had solved the problem, I start to drift off....to hear a rustling noise followed by thumps coming from the end of the bed. Apparently, she could not figure out which drawer she wanted, so she decided to open every single one, loudly paw through everything there, and toss the contents onto the floor (or one of the other cats that passed by--poor Milly ended up running out of the room with a scarf caught on her tail). I sit up, look at Buddy tell him to get her, which results in him chasing PERKY across the house....I guess I should have been more specific about which her I meant. Two seconds later, Essa is on the bed head butting my face and purring like mad----cute doesn't work before coffee. I toss her off, roll over and put a pillow over my head only to have a rather weighty cat jump on me and start meowing loudly. Apparently Perky took umbrage that I sicced the dog on her....When Buddy followed her onto the bed and started chuffing at her and trying to paw her off me I gave up and decided to start the day. There is just NOT enough coffee on the planet for this mess.

And yesterday:

Curiosity may or may not have killed a few cats to date. If, however, Essa does not get over this obsession for opening every drawer she finds and dragging any clothes she can get her paws on out onto the floor, I may help her use up one of her 9 lives.  And after looking at the kitchen, add anything at all she can get her paws on---paper, Ziploc bags.....SIGH. I love my cat. I love my cat. I love my cat. I love my cat.....
