Animal Shnanimals

On the animal front, I now have a new kitten, whom the rescue group had named patches since his fur due to a disease.  This is not something I choose to remember, and since he is solid black, I named him Squid Ink.  :)  I had forgotten how much of a pain in the butt kittens can be.

My bff from High School, Angela, got married this weekend, and guess who caught the bouquet!  It was a beautiful ceremony in the botanical gardens (the real wedding was in NY since Texas does not allow gay marriages--don't get me started) followed by a fun reception at Joe T Garcia's in Fort Worth.  A wonderful time was had by all, celebrating the wonderful union of two beautiful and caring people - Angela and Jamie.  Congrats again, ladies!

 On with some animal stories!!!!

This morning.:   I am enjoying an animal free moment, lest I kill them all......I awakened before 6 a.m. to the sound of a crash followed by water pouring onto floors. I run in the living room, and Squid has knocked over the vase that contains the bridesmaid bouquet I caught and is playing with one of the flowers while water cascades over my counters and in a waterfall onto my wood floors. One flying kitten later, the older cats are now sneaking looks around various corners at the mad woman running around saying rude things about kittens trying to find towels and such to clean up the mess. Buddy, being a smart dog, lays on the end of the couch only his tail barely moving. I put on the coffee, go to feed the animals, Squid jumps on the counter and starts sticking his head in the bowls so I cannot get to them. Push the kitten off, and Andy jumps up and starts eating out of one of the dishes I finally managed to get some food placed. I place him on the floor while scolding hi
m to find the kitten back at it on the counter. Drop the kitten back on the floor and there is Andy looking all pathetic. Cuss and repeat process. Finally get their food ready, take the kitten's food to the laundry room so the other cats can eat in peace, and find Millie chasing me down--scoot her out and quickly shut the door, to find the others are trying to get on the counters, I am, apparently being too slow this morning. Buddy, being a smart dog, is laying quietly on the kitchen rug watching the action and not moving. Finally get the cats fed (while loudly praising Buddy every time I get near him) in their separate rooms, get Buddy fed and FINALLY get my first sip of coffee. Let Buddy outside, and now I sit here typing this and wondering how long I can go without letting any of the animals back in with me.
October 13 - dang cat. Coloring my hair and while sitting on the couch waiting for the timer, Perky comes up and rubs her face across my hair. So snatching the cat up, I run to the kitchen, wet a cloth and try to get the hair color off her all the while she is fighting like crazy.....and when I was done, Oh, the glare I got!!!!  Fortunately, she is a calico, so the little area I missed hardly shows.
October 8 - had to laugh this morning - woke up with the TV going and every animal in the house except the fish piled on my bed and as close to me as possible. It wasn't until I stuck a toe out of the bed and looked at the thermostat that I realized why----I had not turned the heater on and the temp in the house was in the 60s. Ooops! My bad. :)
September 22 - Discover 2 keys have disappeared from my laptop keyboard. Turns out a cat got the keys off, but Buddy ate them.  Can't have nice things, as if my poor laptop wasn't redneck rigged enough.
