I had an enjoyable time since yesterday shooing the cats off the couch and trying to teach Buddy that the couch is not for him to lay on. My BFF had a great idea to put aluminum foil in strategic places along the back of the couch to scare the cats and keep them off. Sadly, neither of us reckoned on my insane animals. It worked on Millie, she jumped up, hit the foil, freaked and hid UNDER the couch. Perky and Lemur, on the other hand loved the foil. Perky saw it as a great toy, Lemur saw it as a nice napping spot. *sigh* Such is the curse of smart cats. So back to the throw blanket method...which brings me to my latest Buddy story:
I took a picture of Buddy and Perky on the new couch. (see below) They were both laying on blankets/throws I had on the couch. Perky, I am not surprised to find. Buddy, I was surprised to find on it, but what amused me is that I have kept pushing him off the couch, as I have the cats--when they try to get on the bare couch and not on the throws. So far, the cats are paying attention, and I guess Buddy was paying attention too. I had not put any throws or blankets on the seats of the couch, just across the back since that is where the cats usually go lay down. I didn't even pull out the blue blanket until I decided to take a nap today, so I am not real sure how Buddy figured out he could lay on the seats of the couch if they are blanket covered....I honestly didn't think dogs had that much reasoning. Buddy is just too frigging smart. I had left the blanket on the couch a little bunched up, but spread out just a bit. I kept hearing Buddy pawing at something while I made dinner, but figured it was his doggie bed. When I got back to the living room, imagine my surprise. Apparently Buddy figured out laying on blankets on the couch is OK, but laying on the bare couch is a bad thing. So he had pawed the blanket till it spread out enough he could snuggle.....too cute! You can see in the picture that he wasn't 100% sure he wasn't going to get in trouble--just look at his face and body position. Prior to that, he was sprawled full length across that blanket. :) I love that dog!
